When you visit for the first time a detailed case history will be taken where we’ll ask questions about your symptoms, general health and medical history.

This will be followed by a physical examination including the area of pain which will normally require you to be asked to remove some of your clothing (gowns are provided), and to perform a series of simple movements. The osteopath will then use a highly developed sense of touch, called palpation, to identify any points of weakness or excessive strain throughout the body.

A consultation lasts 40minutes

The osteopath may occasionally need to refer you to your GP for additional investigations such as an x-ray or MRI scan. This will allow a full diagnosis and suitable treatment plan to be developed with you. Osteopathy is patient centred, which means the treatment is geared to you as an individual. If you have any relevant X-rays or scans please bring them along to your first visit.

A consultation costs 65 euro’s and a proportion is normally paid back through your Belgium medical insurance. (A doctors prescription for treatment is not necessary).
