Headaches
Osteopathy is particularly effective for cervicogenic and tension-type headaches. Research by Voigt et al. (2011) in Cephalalgia and a randomised trial by Anderson & Seniscal (2006) show that osteopathic treatment significantly reduces headache frequency and intensity. By releasing tension in the neck, skull base and shoulder girdle, pressure on nerves and blood vessels is reduced. A thorough analysis of postural patterns and jaw tension always forms the starting point of our approach.

Tension headaches and migraines often have a musculoskeletal component. Tension in the neck, the base of the skull or the jaw can directly contribute to headaches. By treating these structures osteopathically, the frequency and intensity of your symptoms can be significantly reduced.
How we help
Cervical spine treatment
Tension in the neck and upper back is a common cause of headaches and migraine. We release this tension through gentle mobilisation of the cervical vertebrae.
Cranial osteopathy
We use subtle techniques on the vault and base of the skull to normalise tension systems and fluid circulation around the brain.
Jaw and facial treatment
Jaw problems (TMJ) can trigger headaches. We assess and treat the jaw joints and surrounding structures as part of the approach.
