Baby complaints

Newborns can develop tension in the skull, neck or pelvis after a long or difficult delivery, presenting as excessive crying, sleep problems, feeding difficulties or a preferred head position. Cranial osteopathy — a gentle, non-invasive technique — helps normalise these tensions. An RCT in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine (Hayden & Bhatt, 2016) and research by Dobson et al. (2012) show improvements in infants with colic and feeding difficulties.

Baby complaints

Babies and young children can benefit from osteopathy for a wide range of complaints: from colic and sleep problems to a preferred head position or plagiocephaly. We use gentle, specially adapted techniques that are completely safe for the youngest patients.

How we help

Gentle craniosacral therapy

Through extremely light touch we release tensions that arose during birth — whether from a caesarean section, ventouse or prolonged labour.

Normalising reflux and colic

Tension in the diaphragm and abdominal organs can cause reflux or gas build-up. We release these structures so your baby feels more comfortable.

Improving feeding and sleep quality

Tensions in the jaw, tongue and skull base affect feeding and sleeping. After treatment many babies feed and sleep noticeably better.
